Hi Everyone,
We are very excited to have the opportunity to go back to Sichuan for this volunteering event, especially during the Christmas season. We warmly welcome your participation.
I would like to introduce to you Sincerely, Hope, a volunteering organization founded by middle school and high school students. Our mission statement is to redefine the new generation of Chinese-Americans. It is well-known that Chinese students are dedicated, hard-working, and academically strong. We not only want to encourage this spirit, but we also want to promote community service and volunteer work.
Community service is a way for each child to bring his or her full potential to give back to the community in which he or she has received so much from. Serving others can have an important impact on people in need as well as yourselves. There is so much power in one that gives back to other people without receiving anything. Volunteering brings out the best in every person, because we are living for a cause rather than applause. And it is in such ways that Sincerely, Hope strives to bring Chinese children from everywhere to join hands and serve your community.
With this goal in our minds and hearts, the members of Sincerely, Hope looks toward a brighter future. From the summer of 2012 when Sincerely, Hope was established, to the present, the events we have done are numerous and the hearts we’ve touched are priceless. Our volunteers have done a variety of services, from hacking weeds of state parks to sewing Christmas pillows for sick children. As the days passed, changes in our volunteers were inspiring because the truth is that you get more joy out of giving joy to others.
I am so happy for all of you that you have taken the first step to serve your community. You are contributing your greatest qualities to help someone else and although the difference may not be large, as a group, we can achieve much. I hope that through this experience, we all can learn about our community, ourselves, and how lucky we stand amongst millions of children around the world.
On the behalf of Sincerely, Hope, I want to welcome everyone in Chengdu, Nanchong and anywhere, to join us in our mission to touch others’ lives as well as our own.
Sincerely Yours,
Iris Xing
